Zion Contracting served as the General Contractor for Project A37344, Station Painting at Component Location Pelham Bay Park Station IRT, in the Bronx. Pelham Bay Park Station, the northern terminus of the IRT Pelham Line, is a crucial subway station serving the Bronx and providing connectivity to multiple transit routes. The primary objective of this project was to rehabilitate the station to a state of good repair, restoring its structural integrity and enhancing passenger experience.

The scope of work encompassed extensive concrete repairs along the entire station facade, addressing spalls, cracks, and structural weaknesses to reinforce durability and aesthetic appeal. Comprehensive lead and asbestos abatement procedures were conducted to ensure a safe environment for both workers and the public, with strict compliance to health and safety regulations. Window replacement was carried out to improve energy efficiency and visibility, and a thorough station-wide painting program was executed to revitalize the station’s appearance.

Additional improvements included the installation of a new bird deterrent system to prevent nesting and maintain cleanliness within the station. The project also involved testing and assessing the station’s drainage system to ensure proper functionality and prevent water accumulation. Zion Contracting’s role in managing this complex, multi-disciplinary project exemplified its commitment to quality and precision, successfully bringing Pelham Bay Park Station to a renewed state of good repair and enhanced usability.
