Zion Contracting served as the General Contractor for the renovation of Broadway Junction Station, a major subway complex in Brooklyn, New York, that functions as a crucial transfer point for multiple subway lines. Located at the intersection of Broadway, Fulton Street, and Van Sinderen Avenue, Broadway Junction links the neighborhoods of Bedford–Stuyvesant and East New York and features both elevated and underground platforms that support seamless passenger transfers across lines.

The purpose of the project was to significantly improve vertical mobility for passengers, expand the station’s mezzanine area, and establish a dedicated facility for MTA employees. The scope of work involved the installation of four new stairs to facilitate platform access, along with the extension of the existing concrete mezzanine over the tracks to improve circulation space for commuters. Advanced lighting systems were installed throughout the station to enhance visibility and safety, and a suspended platform system was added to support both functionality and architectural aesthetics.

Additional key upgrades included the installation of a state-of-the-art PA system to improve communication and help points for passenger assistance. A new signal office was constructed to streamline operational management within the station. The project also focused on durable and visually appealing finishes, such as granite tile flooring, new metal panels, and a comprehensive painting initiative. Environmental safety was prioritized through extensive lead abatement measures, while structural upgrades were made to the concrete platforms and platform edges to improve durability and performance. Zion Contracting’s commitment to quality and precision ensured the successful transformation of Broadway Junction into a modern, resilient transit hub.
